Respecting the past - Planting the seeds for the future
At Advanced Australian Trees we pride ourselves on not only helping others promote the environment by providing trees and plants, but by also practicing sustainable business practices ourselves.
Some of our initiatives include:
- The construction of a large dam to capture run-off from the tree pads so that high nutrient water from our container plants and trees does not enter the natural creek that runs along the bottom boundary of the property
- The use of organic fertilizers where possible
- The use of our own water from a 140 metre bore
- The conversion from 'spray stakes' to a high pressure 'dripper' system generating a saving of over 300% in water usage
- The on-going regeneration of the creek frontage - 30% complete. The creek now contains platypus, fresh water 'crays' and native fish
- The planting of several double and triple row native trees for windbreaks and bird habitats. As a result, over the past 10 years we have seen the re-introduction of many native bird species to the property.
